Happy Fourth of July! Today is Independence Day! This is one of my favorite holidays of the year for many reasons! One, because I love fireworks. Two, because I love BBQs. Three, because I love all of the fun themed food there is to create! Every year, I try to make something new for the Fourth. This year to celebrate, I made 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats! Layered with red, white, and blue, and topped with white chocolate and red, white, and blue sprinkles! These are so fun and festive, and they are even easier to make!
What are some of your favorite Fourth of July themed recipes? I love seeing the parfaits, the trifles, the watermelon and blueberries, the cupcakes, the cakes, and everything in between! This year has got to be one of my favorites. I love rice krispie treats but I love them even more with a little character! I like adding different cereal treats to mine, dipping them in chocolate, or making a frosting! These are so yummy and fun, people of all ages will love them!
The layers are just colored with food coloring, not flavored! Red, white, and then blue food coloring! Melt down some white chocolate, dip the tops, sprinkle on the sprinkles, and set them in the refrigerator to set, they are perfect for your Fourth of July table! We bought some flag themed table clothes and napkins that are totally cute!
Fourth of July Rice Krispies
Yields: 24
9 cups rice krispie cereal
1 1/3 bags small marshmallows
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut oil
red & blue food coloring
red, white, and blue sprinkles
Measure out 3 cups of rice krispie cereal into 3 separate bowls.
Line a 9×13 or 10×10 pan with parchment paper.
In a sauce pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Mix in the vanilla. Next, add the marshmallows, stirring consistently so that they melt down without burning.
Next, pour the melted marshmallow evenly between each bowl. Drop a couple of drops of red and blue food coloring on top of the marshmallow before mixing into the cereal.
Layer the rice krispie mix into the pan, making sure each layer is pressed down solid before adding the next. Allow to cool.
Melt down the white chocolate chips with coconut oil in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between.
Cut the rice krispies into bite sized pieces, dip them in white chocolate, top with sprinkles, and leave in the fridge to set.
