The very best, at home maple donuts! These easy baked maple donuts are soft, creamy, and delicious! The donut itself is a cake donut that is baked to perfection. Then it is topped with a homemade buttery maple glaze that brings this recipe all together! Make it with me!
Baked Maple Donuts
I think the first huge tip I can give out would be to make sure that your donut pan is GREASED! You can do that by using a non-stick spray or by using butter and spreading it around with a napkin/paper towel to make sure it’s fully coated.
You also don’t need a fancy bag to add the donut batter into the pan – I just use a gallon sized ziploc bag to pipe them in! I think piping them makes the batter amount the most consistent in each donut.
However, feel free to spoon the better in if you’d like.
Above all, just be sure that all the batter is inside the cavities for perfectly round, baked donuts.
What You’ll Need to Make Baked Donuts at Home
This is my favorite donut pan from Wilton. I like it because it is two 6 donut cavity pans, so I can often make a double batch for one dozen donuts.
In addition to the actual donut pan for baking, here is the ingredients list.
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- One cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
TO MAKE THE MAPLE GLAZE
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon maple or vanilla extract
- Dash of sea salt

Easy Baked Maple Donuts
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Maple Glaze
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon maple or vanilla extract
- Dash of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray donut pan with non-stick spray. Set aside.
- Add the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, milk, sour cream, and vanilla to a stand mixer and beat until combine.
- Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together with the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix. The batter will be thick.
- Spoon the batter into a large zipped-top bag for ease. Cut a corner off the bottom of the bag and pipe the batter into each greased donut cup, filling about halfway.
- Bake for 10-11 minutes or until the edges and tops are lightly browned.
- Allow donuts to cool for a few minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Make the icing:
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and maple syrup together, whisking occasionally. Once the butter has melted, remove from heat and whisk in the sifted confectioners’ sugar and extract. Add a pinch of salt.
- Dip each donut into the icing. Place dipped donuts back onto a cooling rack as excess icing drips down. Feel free to double dip them
