WHAT IS A SHRIMP BOIL?
A Southern Boil or Shrimp Boil is a social gathering that’s famous throughout the southern states in which family and friends get together to feast on shrimp, sausage, sweet corn, and potatoes.
All of the ingredients are combined in giant outdoor stockpots and boiled until cooked through.
Here’s the fun part! The contents are then drained and dumped out onto a newspaper-lined table for a casual, tasty interactive buffet of sorts. No one uses plates, just their hands!
Here’s Why You’ll Love this Sheet Pan Style
- EASY: This recipe is so easy to throw together! Chop and prep the ingredients and parboil the potatoes and you’re ready to cook. You can also steam the potatoes in the microwave for 7 minutes instead. It comes together in less than 20 minutes, and then all you need is 15 minutes at 400°F and it’s ready to serve!
- NO POT WATCHING: With a traditional shrimp boil, you boil it all together, which means you have to watch your pot to make sure it doesn’t boil over. With this method, you don’t have to babysit it. You can throw it in the oven and it’ll roast up beautifully. That’s my favorite thing about it!
- FEEDS A CROWD: This recipe is for a hungry crowd! It would be perfect for your father’s day celebration or any of your upcoming summer parties!
- FLAVOR: This recipe is simple, but that doesn’t mean it lacks flavor. With the sweet corn, smoked sausage, and of course, garlic butter and old bay seasonings, you will notice the perfect balance of salty, smoky, and sweet with a subtle kick of heat.
- FUN: This recipe is just so fun! It’s a fun meal that screams celebration!
