What You Need To Make Caramel Apple Bars
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup melted butter
- Three apples, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- Two teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 12 caramels, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup softened butter

How to Make Caramel Apple Bars Shortbread Crust
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8×8″ pan with parchment paper, leaving the edges hanging for easy removal. Spray the pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir the sugar, flour, and salt with a spoon or spatula until a crumbly dough forms. Stir in the melted butter.
- Press the crust mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven.
How to Make the Apple Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cut the caramels into cubes and set aside until the crust finishes baking. Prepare the crumble below.
- Spread the apples over the par-baked crust. Add the caramel cubes.
How to Make The Crumble Topping
- In a large mixing bowl, stir the brown sugar, oats, flour and cut in the softened butter until a crumbly mixture forms. You can use a pastry cutter or two knives or squish the butter with your fingertips.
- Crumble the streusel topping over the apples and caramel sauce.
- Bake for an additional 30 minutes until the crumble topping is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan. Drizzle on additional caramel for decoration.
- Lift the foil or paper out of the pan and cut into squares. Enjoy!

Notes
You can also bake this recipe in a 9x13 baking dish for more servings. The crust won't be as thick, but it will still be delicious!
