These easy cake pops are the most delightful little treats and are so delicious! They’re cake mixed with frosting, which is then rolled into little balls and coated with chocolate—YUM! The best part? The cake pop itself is made using only cake mix! This means you can make the base with any flavor you like! The same goes with the chocolate coating and sprinkles. Make them with me!

The Easiest Cake Pop Recipe
People make cake pops out to be complicated when they are so fun! I was one of those who never made them because they seemed temperamental and demanding. They shouldn’t stress you out!
This recipe for easy cake pops requires you to bake a cake mix, according to the box directions, then throw the ENTIRE hot cake into a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and let the mixer do the work.
The steam from the hot cake will be enough to bind the cake together, forming that familiar cake pop dough we are going for. No added frosting required!
Roll the dough into tight circles and set aside.
Then, melt down your chocolate melts of color and choice, dip the lollipop stick in the chocolate before pressing it into the cake pop, coat the entire ball in chocolate, embellish with sprinkles if desired, and sit upright until the chocolate has set.

Easy Cake Pop Ingredients
- Any cake mix + ingredients on the back – In the pictures, I used funfetti
- Chocolate candy melts—You can choose whatever type of chocolate you’d like. For this funfetti cake pop, I used white chocolate candy melts.
- Lollipop sticks– sourced at Walmart
- Sprinkles

How to Make Easy Cake Pops
- Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the boxed directions.
- Immediately after taking the cake out of the oven, pour the hot cake into the bowl of a stand mixer. Using the paddle attachment, mix at low speed until dough forms that can be pressed together into a ball.
- Portion out the dough and roll into a ball.
- Place the cake balls on a cookie sheet and then into the freezer to chill while melting the chocolate.
- Once the chocolate is melted, remove the cake balls from the freezer.
- Dip each lollipop stick into the chocolate and press it into the center of each cake ball. This will help prevent the cake pop from falling off the stick.
- You are ready to dip once the chocolate is set on the sticks. Dip the cake pops one by one in the chocolate and gently shake the cake pop to remove any excess melted chocolate. Tip the cake pops right side up and add sprinkles, if desired.
- Allow the chocolate to set while the cake pop is right side up. If desired, poke holes into a cardboard box to help the cake pops stand up straight and dry.
- Serve as is or package up individually in bags with ribbon if desired. Enjoy!
