This Teriyaki Beef Yakisoba is an easy weeknight dinner recipe! Honestly, this dish comes together in no time at all and it’s one of those recipes the whole family will enjoy! I love a sweet teriyaki sauce, and just love this noodle bowl with veggies and steak. You have no freaking idea how much I love this. It is one of my absolute favorite dishes, but who am I kidding noodles and I go so well together. This dish is made with deliciously tender beef, flavorful yakisoba noodles, and oh so many yummy veggies! Make it with me!
What is Yakisoba?
Yakisoba, is a Japanese noodle stir-fry dish. Although soba means buckwheat, yakisoba noodles are actually made from wheat flour, and are typically flavored with a condiment similar to Worcestershire sauce. My version retains the taste of authentic Yakisoba but adapts the technique and ingredients for non-Japanese kitchens. I wanted to make this recipe simple.
You can actually buy Yakisoba specific noodles. I recently found mine at Smart Food Service in downtown Salt Lake! https://www.instacart.com/store/products/3340835
If you don’t have Yakisoba noodles, you could easily substitute any other noodle, udon, lo mien, or spaghetti noodles would work too. We love this Teriyaki Beef Yakisoba.
What Beef Should I Use?
This may start to feel like an ad for Smart Food Service, but trust me, it’s not. However, I recently also found my VERY FAVORITE thinly sliced beef flanks in the frozen section at Smart Food Service. They used to stock this beef at Costco but then the discontinued it. I love it because the steak is sliced thin, then sectioned into 40- 4 ounce servings. This meat is not only great for this dish, but also for philly cheesesteaks or french dip! This meat is perfect in this Teriyaki Beef Yakisoba.
If you can’t find this beef or you don’t have a Smart Food close to you, you could use thinly sliced flank steak. You can also substitute chicken or shrimp if you would rather as well. Both of those protein options would be delicious. Of course, you can leave the meat out and make a vegetarian option as well.
What Is In The Yakisoba Sauce?
For this recipe, I actually made a traditional Yakisoba Sauce and it’s way. easier than you might think!
Yakisoba Sauce is mostly used for seasoning Yakisoba, the classic Japanese fried noodles. Sweet & savory, this versatile sauce can also be used in any stir fry recipes.
My Yakisoba sauce is made using soy sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, and sugar! That’s it! Let’s start cooking this Teriyaki Beef Yakisoba!
