FRENCH FRIES! It’s National French Fry Day and that’s a day to celebrate! I absolute love a good french fry! To me, the perfect batch of french fries must be cooked to a crisp, well seasoned, and dipped in a yummy dipping sauce. Today I am sharing with you my recipe for the best Seasoned French Fries! I’m giving you my tips for how to prep them so they get a nice crisp when they are cooked, my secret dry seasoning mix, and 2 cooking methods! Let’s make some FRIES!
Prepping the Fries
Skin off or on? Up to you! For this recipe, you can choose to keep the skins of the potato on, or peel them off!
You also get to decide if you want regular french fry sticks or wedges. Cutting the french fry shapes is simple, see below!
Soaking the Fries
If you want the best tasting french fries, you have to plan a little prep time. You must soak your cut up potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch and achieve maximum crispiness. Don’t worry, the soak is quick!
Place the prepared potatoes in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Allow them to soak for 15-30 minutes.
When you’re ready to make the fries, drain off the water and rinse the potatoes. Blot with paper towels to dry them completely before tossing in seasonings.
Seasoning the Fries
I LOVE french fries that are well seasoned and flavorful! I have created a secret dry rub for my fries that tastes amazing!
Toss the prepped french fries in the dry seasoning mix (recipe below) making sure each fry is coated.
Then, toss the fries in about a tablespoon of oil (olive or avocado work great).
Once the fries are coated and seasoned, you are ready to bake!
Baking the Fries
We’re finally ready to bake! For today’s recipe, I am sharing two methods for making the best, crispy french fries and guess what? Neither method requires hot, bubbly oil! YAY!
I’m sharing instructions on how to bake these french fries in the OVEN or in the AIR FRYER. These cooking methods are easier, healthier, and safer than frying them in oil.
Choose your method and get those fries CRISPY!
Dipping the Fries
I am local to Utah and so is Albion so I can bet that we all love our fry sauce! Fry sauce is a Utah classic!
I make mine with equal parts ketchup, mayo, and BBQ sauce! SO YUMMY! Give it a try!
ENJOY!
