This classic French Baguette Sandwich is my version of an elevated classic deli sandwich. My version is layered on a crusty French baguette with ham, salami, garlic butter, creamy brie, and lemon seasoned greens. Effortlessly elegant, and most importantly, so delicious. A beautiful sandwich piled high on a crispy french baquette makes for the best lunch or light dinner. Make it with me!
Ham & Cheese Baguette Sandwich
I recently shared the makings of this homemade baguette sandwich on my Instagram stories and shared a pole asking if sandwich recipes were too simple to share on the blog. The response was overwhelming an overwhelming yes!
Which makes me excited because I truly love a good sandwich. There is nothing better than a delicious layered sandwich, piled high will all of your favorite flavors and toppings.
My favorite sandwich flavor combination is a simple ham & cheese. I elevated this recipe by making it on a crusty french baguette, with a generous spread of garlic butter, brie cheese, dijon mustard, and assorted greens.
This recipe is totally customizable to fit your taste buds! You can swap the ham for prosciutto, turkey, pastrami, or roast beef. You could also swap the brie cheese for any other cheese. The greens for arugula, and any other swaps really, you get the idea. This recipe is really designed to make it your own!
You can cut this sandwich into 2 pieces, 3 pieces, 4 pieces, or up to 8 pieces for an easy bite sized finger food to share for a luncheon or party.
What You’ll Need for this Ham & Cheese Baguette
- French Baguette- you can pick this up at your local grocery store in the bakery, or feel free to make it homemade if you like.
- Garlic Butter- Use high-quality garlic butter for the best flavor. I love using Chef Shamy garlic butter, it is my favorite.
- Ham- Also use a high-quality ham if you can. It will make this sandwich taste even better!
- Salami- Adds a delicious flavor element to this sandwich!
- Brie- You don’t need anything too fancy or expensive here, just make sure it’s a creamy brie. Chilled brie is easier to cut and portion than room temperature brie.
- Greens- I like to toss my greens in a fresh lemon juice before adding them to the sandwich, giving them a little extra flavor.
- Dijon Mustard- I love the tanginess dijon mustard adds to the sandwich, but this is meant to be a simple sandwich. If you don’t have it on hand, you can leave it out.
How to Make A Baguette Sandwich
- Split the baguette down the middle and spread the garlic butter on both sides of the bread.
- Layer on the ham and brie cheese and place in a preheated oven on broil for 1-2 minutes, until the brie is melty and the bread is toasted.
- Spread the dijon mustard on the top half of the brie.
- Layer on the salami.
- Toss the greens in lemon juice then layer them on the sandwich.
- Place toothpicks in the sandwich where you want to section it to secure it, and then cut and serve as desired. Enjoy!
