A simple broccoli slaw salad recipe with the most delicious creamy dressing. This broccoli slaw is quick and easy to make. It is best to make it in advance. Think of this recipe as a mixup between broccoli salad and coleslaw. Serve this easy slaw on the side or add it to sandwiches or burgers for some extra crunch. Use the packaged shredded broccoli found in most grocery stores. Make it with me!
Basic Coleslaw Recipe
This broccoli slaw salad resembles my favorite basic coleslaw recipe, but it’s made with store-bought shredded broccoli. However, you can follow this same recipe and make it with shredded broccoli or shredded cabbage.
The homemade dressing is made with mayo, honey, sugar, salt, and white vinegar. It comes together in no time but is best to let it sit for a minimum of one hour before serving.
It’s crunchy, flavorful, and delicious! We love making this recipe all spring and summer long.
What’s In Coleslaw?
Is broccoli slaw the same as coleslaw? Yes! This recipe is mostly the same, just made with broccoli slaw instead of cabbage.
Typical slaws like this one are made with shredded cabbage or broccoli and then topped with a homemade creamy dressing.
I like using a little bit of honey in the dressing base to make it sweeter. I also suggest using regular mayo rather than a lighter mayo or miracle whip for the best flavor results.
You can also add sunflower seeds, craisins, or raisins if you prefer too!
How do you make broccoli slaw from scratch?
If you want to make the broccoli slaw from scratch, rather than use the packaged stuff you can find at the grocery store, you totally can.
Shred the broccoli stalk in a food processor using the grater disk (the attachment with the holes, not the blade). If your food processor has two grater sizes, choose the larger holes.
Shred up some purple cabbage and carrots and mix it all together and that is how you make the base of this recipe!
How long does broccoli slaw last in the fridge?
This broccoli slaw salad will keep for 3 days in the fridge! It’s best to make it ahead of time, at least an hour, to allow the sauce and flavors to best incorporate.
Leave it in an airtight container in the fridge and it’ll keep for three days.
