White Chocolate Popcorn
If you haven’t noticed by now, I really like popcorn. Like really like it! I think I have at least 5 popcorn recipes on my blog. I’m a big fan! I have tried several different flavor combinations and consider myself kind of a popcorn expert! This Cupid’s Crunch Popcorn is SO YUMMY! I made it and gave it away to some neighbors as gifts, and heard back raving reviews! I love it and I think that you will too!
What Popcorn Should I Use For White Chocolate Coating?
You may notice that my popcorn fuller and bigger than traditional popcorn kernels. That is because it is made with mushroom popcorn kernels that I bought at Orson Gygi!
Mushroom popcorn is popcorn that will pop into these puffy, large rounds that you see photographed here.
I don’t know about you but I always used to wonder why when you buy flavored popcorn in a bag like caramel popcorn, their pieces are always bigger than the air-popped popcorn that I make at home.
I had no idea you could buy a different type of popcorn kernel to achieve this pretty popcorn. Now I know! And now you do too!
This is the same popcorn I use in my Famous Caramel Popcorn Recipe!
What You’ll Need to Make Cupids Crunch
1 cup unpopped mushroom popcorn
2 cups white chocolate chips
2 cups red colored white chocolate chips- or color white with food coloring
1 cup crushed Oreos
A cup of butterscotch chips
1 cup red hots
2 cups mini marshmallows
Pop the popcorn in an air popper. When finished popping, place a wire cookie rack over the top of the bowl and turn the bowl over the trash can or the sink. Shake gently and the unpopped kernels should fall through the holes.
In a microwave-safe bowl, in 30-second intervals, melt down the white chocolate until smooth. Cover and coat half the batch with the white chocolate, and the other half with the red white chocolate.
Once coated, spread the mixed popcorn colors out onto two cookie sheets. Sprinkle the Oreos, butterscotch chips, red hots, and marshmallows over the top and leave to dry for about 5 minutes.
When chocolate is set, break up the popcorn pieces and add them to a large bowl to serve. Or section out into little plastic bags to give away as gifts!
