A Family Recipe, Frozen Banana Slush
You know those recipes that have been in your family for years, and everyone knows it by name and loves it? That’s this recipe for my mom’s side of the family!
We were raised on this Frozen Banana Slush Drink! Every time I have it, I think of my Grandma B! I love when she shares her recipes with me!
This recipe is a hit year round, but we particularly love it in the hot summer months! It’s the perfect way to cool off!
What Do I Need to Make Frozen Banana Slush?
This recipe could not be any easier! It only requires 6 ingredients, plus water!
What You Will Need For This Recipe
- 1 large can pineapple juice
- 5 bananas (I prefer using ripe)
- 2 cups orange juice
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 6 cups water
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 2-Liters of Lemon Lime Soda
That’s it!
How Long Does This Recipe Take To Make?
Preparing this recipe is rather quick and easy!
You have to create a simple syrup by boiling the sugar and water together on the stovetop, which takes about 10 minutes.
You also have to blend together the orange juice and the bananas, which takes about 3 minutes.
And all that’s left is mixing all the ingredients together! You pour them all into a large, air tight container that will fit in your freezer.
Allow this recipe to set up overnight in the freezer! Anywhere from 12-24 hours is ideal!
When you are ready to serve, you scoop out about a 1/2 cup of the frozen banana slush like ice cream, and pour the lemon lime soda over the top!
What Lemon Lime Soda Should I Use?
The beauty of this recipe is that you can use any lemon lime soda to pour over the top! Sprite, 7 Up, or Fresca all would work great!
We typically use Sprite or 7 Up when making it, but anything will work!
This recipe makes a lot, so we buy three or four 2 Liter bottles of soda pop if we are planning to serve it to a crowd!
Banana Slush, Does it Taste Like Banana?
The number one question I get asked is does this recipe taste like bananas. The answer is sort of! It’s not an overwhelming banana flavor, but it is definitely in there.
But, there are so many other flavors that go into this, pineapple juice, orange juice, lemon juice, and lemon lime soda, that the banana just compliments the other flavors!
Don’t knock it until you try it! It’s a family favorite recipe at our house and I think it will be at yours too!
