Juicy hamburgers, cheeseburgers, or sliders in the Air Fryer mean less mess and fuss with all of the flavor. The air fryer is my new favorite small kitchen appliance and for good reason! During the colder months when the grill is buried in snow, making hamburgers in the air fryer is fast and easy! You can cook up some fresh homemade patties, or even cook up your frozen ones. Make them with me!
Cooking Hamburgers in the Air Fryer
Cooking hamburgers in the air fryer is fast and easy! Honestly, it is way less messy than using the grill too.
The air fryer heats up quickly, the burgers are easy to cook and flip, and the clean-up is minimal. You can’t beat that!
Making hamburger patties in the air fryer is my go-to during the cold winter months. I actually unplug my grill and plug in my fireplace for half the year, so I love this air fryer cook option.
What Air Fryer Should I Buy?
Most air fryers are actually created equal, believe it or not. As long as it has a basket and the ability to air fry, it should get the job done.
If you are wondering which air fryer I have, I have the Instant brand of the air fryer. I’ll link my exact one here.
I like it because it has multiple functions on it including air fry, bake, and reheat. It also has a larger 6-quart basket so I feel that I can cook more food at a time.
But like I said, there are a ton of different brands and models out there of air fryers. I can only speak to the Instant air fryer but I do love it!
Can You Cook Hamburgers in the Air Fryer?
Yep! Let’s break it down.
- Combine all of the ingredients and form into 4 equally sized patties!
- Put prepared hamburger patties in a single layer in the Air Fryer basket. Cook according to the recipe below, about 9-12 minutes depending on thickness.
- Top with cheese if desired, and bake for 1 more minute before serving.
Frozen Hamburger Patties in the Air Fryer
You can also cook up frozen hamburger patties in your air fryer too! If you don’t want to take the time to make them from scratch, or you have frozen patties ready to go, an air fryer is a great option!
Frozen burger patties can be cooked in the air fryer, you’ll need to add about 5-7 minutes depending on thickness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness. You want the internal temp to be about 160°F.
Burger Toppings and Buns
I am not going to tell you how you should build or dress your hamburger. That decision is up to you!
However, in these pictures, I turned my hamburgers in the air fryer into Red Rock Burgers.
At Red Rock, they serve their burgers in a pita, with swiss cheese, caramelized onions, red onions, lettuce, and fry sauce. It’s delicious!
Try that flavor combo or build it up however you like it! The choice is yours!
