The Iceberg Wedge Salad is a classic American restaurant salad that is as easy to make at home as it is delicious! Crunchy iceberg lettuce, crispy bacon, cherry tomatoes, and blue cheese crumble with blue cheese dressing! There’s nothing quite as satisfying as digging into a classic iceberg wedge salad that requires both a fork and a knife. Serve it up on a chilled glass salad plate for a complete restaurant-quality salad at home feel! Make it with me.
What’s in This Blue Cheese Wedge Salad?
- Head of iceberg lettuce: Super fresh, extra crisp and cold iceberg lettuce is a must in this salad.
- Crumbled bacon: I cook the bacon first, then break it apart once cooled to ensure crisp bites.
- Cherry tomatoes: Leave them whole, or make it pretty by slicing in half.
- Fresh blue cheese: Add an extra tangy zing to the salad with blue cheese crumbles.
- Blue cheese dressing: Use your favorite blue cheese salad dressing on top!
Not a fan of Blue Cheese? That’s okay! Use fresh mozzarella or feta cheese and top the salad with ranch dressing!
My Ultimate Lettuce Tip!
If you want extra-crisp, chilled lettuce- do this!
I do this every time I make a salad with romaine or iceberg lettuce. Allow the lettuce to soak in an ice water bath for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Trust me! The lettuce will firm right up giving you that crisp bite we all know and love!
This extra step is so worth it! It will make your homemade salad taste restaurant-quality!
Can I Add Other Salad Toppings?
Of course! When you are making salads at home, that is the beauty of it! Make them how you want them!
Other wedge salad toppings to try:
- croutons
- red onion
- dried fruit
- avocado
- hard boiled egg
- proteins like ham, chicken, or fish
