What meat to use for this Pressure Cooker Beef Stroganoff
For this beef stroganoff with mushrooms recipe, you can use a couple of different options of meat! You can use ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken!
You can also use thinly sliced beef sirloin, which is my favorite! I buy a case of Philly’s Best Beef Steaks at Smart Food Service in the freezer section and they are awesome!

Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff
The best Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff! Your favorite easy dinner just got even easier thanks to my favorite kitchen appliance!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 white onion, chopped
- 1-2 pounds beef sirloin, ground beef, or ground turkey
- 1 pound sliced mushrooms
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Set the Instant Pot to sauté, and add the butter and onion.
- Sauté the onions until they are cooked down. Add the meat to the pot and cook until browned. (Rinse meat if needed and return to Pot).
- Stir in the mushrooms.
- Next, add the beef broth, salt, dried basil, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
- Turn the Instant Pot off, put the lid on the pot, and set the valve to seal.
- Manually set the timer for 10 minutes. The Instant Pot will take 10 minutes to come to pressure before the timer starts to count down. When the time runs out and the chime sounds, quick release the remaining pressure.
- Remove the lid and stir in the milk and sour cream.
- Serve hot over egg noodles, rice, or cauliflower rice. I often serve stroganoff with a side of peas or broccoli.
