The Best Homemade Sauce
For the sloppy joe sauce, I mix up a variety of seasons and flavors to create the best sauce!
Ketchup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, yellow mustard, beef bullion powder, and BBQ sauce are all mixed together to make the flavor pop!
Simply whisk together the above ingredients in a small bowl and add it to the meat mixture.

Loaded Sloppy Joes
The best, easy dinner to make on a weeknight! Loaded Sloppy Joes are packed with nutritious ingredients, veggies, and lots of flavor!
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound lean ground turkey (or ground beef)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup carrot, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 2 teaspoons beef bouillon powder
- 1/4 cup bbq sauce
- 4 hamburger buns for serving
Instructions
- Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to a large cast iron skillet and place over medium high heat.
- Add in the onion, garlic, and ground turkey. Break up the meat into small pieces and cook until no longer pink, about 5-8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Next, add in the carrot, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for 5-7 minutes or until veggies are tender.
- While the veggies are cooking down, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, yellow mustard, beef bullion powder, and bbq sauce.
- Add prepared sauce to the meat and simmer for 3-5 minutes, until sauce has thickened.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Spoon the mixture on top of buns and enjoy.
