Caramel Rice Krispie Treats
At this point, it is no surprise that my love of cereal bars run deep. I am constantly coming up with new flavor ideas on how I can make the best cereal bars.
This recipe, takes the cake. I am not kidding when I say that I made an entire 9×13 pan full, and I had to continuously tell myself to stop eating them; they’re that good.
Who knew that caramel and marshmallow are such complimentary flavors. I may never be able to make a plain rice krispie treat again.
Salted Caramel
The key to this recipe is to use a good quality caramel and flaky sea salt! When it comes to flavor, you don’t want to skimp on these ingredients.
I used my favorite Peter’s Caramel Loaf in this recipe because it has a strong flavor and it’s easy to meltdown. You can purchase Peter’s Caramel at a variety of places, but I always buy it at Orson Gygi.
I know it comes in a 5 pound loaf, but you can wrap it up and save the extras in an air tight bag for like a year! So don’t worry about not using it.
You can also use the individual wrapped caramel candies if you must, that you buy at the grocery store for this recipe.
What You’ll Need For This Recipe
Making these Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats could not be easier! All you need are the following ingredients:
- Rice Krispie Cereal
- Mini Marshmallows
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Caramel- for melting and for drizzling
- Vanilla
- Sea Salt
My Secret Ingredient
I am sure you noticed, but on my ingredients list above and in the recipe, there is something unique on the list that isn’t usually in typical rice krispie treats.
Sweetened condensed milk!
The addition of sweetened condensed milk in these salted caramel rice krispie treats are what make this recipe incredibly soft and chewy. They add a sweetness to this recipe that pairs so well with the caramel and marshmallow flavor.
Adding the sweetened condensed milk makes these bars extra moist too, so you won’t have any dry pieces of cereal in these bars!
