It’s Shark Week!! Shark Week is one of my favorite weeks in the summer because it is so fun! I love themes and shark week is so different and fun! This year for Shark Week, I wanted to develop a recipe that was fun, delicious, and perfect to snack on while enjoying the show! So without further ado, I bring you, Shark Bait! Shark Bait is a delicious blend of sweet, savory, and salty. You cannot go wrong! It is a fun dish that everybody will love! Make it with me this Shark Week!
For those of you who don’t know, Shark Week is when the Discovery Channel sets up one week full of shark tv shows and videos to entertain the public! It is a time that friends and family gather together to learn something new and be entertained by watching the sharks! My husband and I love it! This year, one of their big events was watching Michael Phelps race a shark. Is Michael Phelps faster than a shark? I don’t know, head to the Discover Channel and find out!
Popcorn is the perfect treat to make for Shark Week! That is why we chose to use popcorn when we developed this recipe! White chocolate is a simple and easy way dress it up and it tastes amazing! Add a few mix in’s that go with the theme and it is perfect!
My cute sister in law Abby helped me develop this recipe! She helped me brain storm ideas, build the recipe, and taste test it of course! We give it a 10/10! Shark Bait is a blend of popcorn, white chocolate, pretzels, sixlets, and gummy sharks! The flavors really blend together to compliment each other! We used standard air pop popcorn as a base, white chocolate chips for a coating, blue sprinkles for a water effect, gold fish shaped pretzels as fishies, pink yellow blue and purple sixlets for coral, and of course blue gummy sharks! It is just a pretty as it is delicious! Try it out yourself and see!
Shark Week Shark Bait
1/4 cup Air Popped Mushroom Popcorn
1 cup melting white chocolate chips
Blue Food Coloring
Blue Sprinkles
1 cup Colored Sixlet Candies
1 cup Gummy Sharks
1 cup Pretzel Gold Fish
Pop the popcorn in an air popper. Remove the kernels by running the popcorn through a cooling rack over a cookie sheet.
In a microwave safe bowl, place the white chocolate chips. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. If it doesn’t become smooth, add a little bit of oil and it should thin out.
Add a couple drops of food coloring to the white chocolate mix to make it ocean blue. In a large bowl, pour the now blue chocolate over the popcorn and mix well, coating each popcorn evenly. Generously add blue sprinkles to the popcorn to cover the batch. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
When the chocolate is dry to the touch, mix in the sixlets, gummy sharks. and pretzels. Mix well and serve!
