There’s nothing better than a classic strawberry banana smoothie! This one has Greek yogurt and protein powder for an added protein boost. There a million different smoothie recipes and combinations out there that are fun and delicious, but I find myself often going back to the classics! This classic Strawberry Banana Smoothie is perfect for breakfast, as an afternoon snack, or for a post workout recovery shake! I make my smoothies with added protein for a healthy and nutritious treat. Make it with me!
Frozen Fruit
I always use frozen fruit when I make smoothies because I like them to be cold and I feel that frozen fruit becomes creamier. Especially frozen bananas. Pro-tip: when your bananas begin to brown on your counter top, peel them, half it, then place them in a ziplock baggie in the freezer. That way, when you need to add a frozen banana to any shake, you have them ready to go!
I also feel that frozen strawberries are cheaper! I like to buy the large organic bag of frozen strawberries from Costco because it lasts for a while!
Post Workout Recovery Shake
This Strawberry Banana Smoothie is also great as a recovery shake! Did you know that strawberries and bananas help to reduce recovery time and nausea from difficult training sessions.
Bananas are chuck full of potassium which helps keep your muscles from cramping. Potassium is the main electrolyte that powers muscles and adding it to a whey protein shake makes for an amazing recovery drink.
Strawberries have antioxidants that can also protect your cells against damage. Both fruits are great for post workout!
Protein Powder
For this recipe, I call for a scoop of my favorite Beverly International UMP protein powder! I use their strawberry flavor for this smoothie, but you could also use vanilla.
Also, you can use whatever protein powder you prefer. The macros are listed using the UMP protein.
