This Tricolor Coleslaw is my go-to when I need a delicious coleslaw topping! It’s colorful, flavorful, and the perfect pairing or side dish to almost anything! Want a delicious recipe that whips in under 5 minutes? This Easy tricolor coleslaw uses minimal ingredients but is full of flavor. Make it with me!

Easy Tricolor Coleslaw
This simple slaw is made with green cabbage, purple cabbage, and carrots- the three colors that make up the tri.
You can buy a precut “tricolor coleslaw” bag from the grocery store or cut up each vegetable individually. Either option works great!
The dressing is simple: mayo, buttermilk, and white wine vinegar. I feel that a good salad dressing needs just a touch of sweetness, so I add some sugar but feel free to substitute a smaller amount of honey or agave.

What You’ll Need to Make Tricolor Coleslaw
- 1 (14 ounce) package of coleslaw mix
- ¼ cup finely chopped yellow onion
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Two tablespoons buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Stir together coleslaw mix and onion in a large bowl.
- Mix mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a second bowl until smooth. Pour dressing over slaw; stir well and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.

What To Serve with Tricolor Coleslaw
I love this dish as a delicious side dish, but it also makes a great topping!
Pictured here, I used this slaw as the topping for some delicious air fryer shrimp tacos. I added fresh avocado slices over corn tortillas, making a tasty dinner.
You could also use this slaw on top of burgers, chicken sandwiches, or even BBQ dishes.
