Overnight Frozen Summer Slush
This recipe is a hit year-round, but we particularly love it in the hot summer. It’s the perfect way to cool off, and it’s so refreshing!
Scoop a few slush scoops into a cup and add your favorite soda pop. Mix and enjoy!
This recipe is perfect for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, or any other occasion!
Because the base is red, it works perfectly as a patriotic punch for those American holidays! Pour a blue soda over the top to give it that red-and-blue effect.
If you aren’t making it for the Fourth of July, you can use any fizzy soda you like! Lemon-lime-flavored sodas pair well with the slush base, but you could also use sparkling soda water.
WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE FROZEN SUMMER SLUSH?
- 1 large can of pineapple juice
- 2 cups strawberries, fresh or frozen
- 2 cups orange juice
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 6 cups water
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 2-Liters of Lemon Lime Soda or Other Fizzy Soda
HOW LONG DOES THIS RECIPE TAKE TO MAKE?
Preparing this recipe is rather quick and easy!
You have to create a simple syrup by boiling the sugar and water on the stovetop, which takes about 10 minutes.
You also have to blend together the orange juice and the strawberries, which takes about 3 minutes.
All that’s left is to mix the ingredients together! You pour them all into a large, airtight container that will fit in your freezer.
Allow this recipe to set up overnight in the freezer! Anywhere from 12-24 hours is ideal!
When you are ready to serve, scoop about half a cup of the frozen summer slush, like ice cream, and pour the lemon-lime soda over the top!
WHAT SODA SHOULD I USE?
The beauty of this recipe is that you can use any lemon-lime soda to pour over the top! Sprite, 7 Up, or Fresca all would work great!
We typically use Sprite or 7 Up when making it, but anything will work!
If you’re making this recipe for a patriotic holiday, you can grab any blue soda! I have used the Mountain Dew Artic Blast, and it works great!
This recipe makes a lot, so we buy two or three-liter soda pop bottles to serve it to a crowd!
