Cabo has quickly found a special place in my heart! I absolutely love going to Cabo! I have actually been to Cabo San Lucas, three times this year alone! It’s one of my favorite places for a relaxing week in the sun, with the ocean, the pools, beaches, food, golf, shopping, and excursions, there really is something for everyone! With that being said, here is my Ultimate Travel Guide to Cabo San Lucas!

It’s only a 2 hour flight from Salt Lake City, UT to be in one of the most-sought after vacation spots in Mexico. And it’s in the same time zone for us, which is super nice!
Whether you want to relax by the pool or party on the sand, there is something to do in Cabo for every type of vacation. If you are like us and looking for a mix of both, dive in to our Ultimate Travel Guide to Cabo San Lucas.
Where to Eat
Let’s start with the FOOD! Cabo has really delicious food options! Here are some of our favorites!
I recommend booking reservations in advance! A lot of these places require reservation to get a table. I either booked direct with them, or used OpenTable.
Edith’s: Edith’s is a vivid combination of the Cuisine of Baja California with a Guerreran flair, featuring a regional fusion of steaks and seafood with local ingredients.
The Office: The Office is currently the hot spot in Cabo. Live a relaxed experience sitting on the sand of the Medano bay, enjoying a great selection of seafood and meat. Order the table-side caesar salad, coconut shrimp, and fruit platter if you go for breakfast!
Mango Deck – Right next to the Office you’ll find Mango Deck. I’ve never been but it’s another popular, known restaurant in Cabo!
Flora Farms: Flora Farms is a 25 acre organic working farm in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. It’s absolutely beautiful and has a delicious farm to table menu to choose from.
Maria Corona: A Mexican culinary treat. Cabo’s hidden gem. Just blocks from the Cabo marina. One of our taxi drivers recommended this place to us!
Habanero’s Gastro Grill: A beautiful restaurant setting with authentic Mexican food at a great price point! We went for lunch and then walked around the shops at downtown Los Cabos.
Romeo & Juliette’s: Located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Romeo & Julieta has become an icon on the restaurant scene, providing the most sought-after Italian dishes and the best service in a friendly, romantic and relaxing atmosphere.
What to Do:
Cabo has lots of different activities to offer! From excursions, to activities on the beach, to hiking, boating, and suntanning, they have it all!
The Cabo Arch: The distinct and must see landmark in Cabo is the Cabo Arch. It’s a rock formation that erupts from the sea at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. It is known as Land’s End and you can only see it by boat.
Medano Beach: This is the most popular beach in Cabo because it is a swimmable beach. You’ve probably seen pictures of it because it is right across from the famous Cabo Arch. You’ll find restaurants, hotels and more lined across the entire beach. You can rent jet skis, try a banana boat, take a glass bottom boat over to the arch and more! You can almost always negotiate the price! There are also many people on the beach selling hand crafted items, politely decline or negotiate the price if you are going to buy.
Lovers & Divorce Beach: Lovers beach is on the Sea of Cortez side which means the waves much calmer and you are able to swim. On the other side (the pacific) is Divorce Beach which often has high winds and large waves making it much more dangerous to swim. You can take a water taxi over to lovers beach and enjoy a day of snorkeling, swimming and tanning. There aren’t any restaurants so be sure to bring any water, food and drinks you might want.
Cabo Shark Dive: We did the Cabo Shark Dive and our group loved it! They take you out into open water, chum the ocean to attract nearby sharks, then allow you to get in and swim with them! It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience! They provide everything for you, snorkle equipment and flippers. You never know what you’re going to see!
Whale Sharks: If you go between November and April, you should swim with the whale sharks! Swim with the biggest and harmless fish in the world, an experience you will never forget! Whale Sharks are the largest fish in the world and meeting in large numbers in Bahia de La Paz.
Whale Watching Tour: Between November and April, you can see humpback whales out in the oceans of Cabo! They are so incredible to see! You may also see Orca’s, Dolphins, and Turtles too!
Beach Activities: Right on Medano beach, there are all kinds of beach activities you can do! We love to go out and rent Jet-Ski’s. You can also banana boat, parasail, and paddle board. You can also head out to the arch on a glass bottom boat. Just find any guy on the beach and they will hook you up! Be sure to negotiate your price.
Golf: The guys in our groups LOVE golfing in Cabo. They have some pretty incredible courses there. They have played at Cabo Real, Puerto Los Cabo, Vidiante, and the Palmetto.
Shopping: There is a shopping mall near the Marina in downtown Cabo. The Los Cabos Mall has stores like Billabong and Tommy Bahama. But, we also like going out into town and shopping the stores on the streets for rings, bracelets, and bags.
Where to Stay
I recommend staying in Cabo on Medano beach! Cabo is known to have very dangerous riptides and currents, and Medano Beach is one of the few safe, swimmable beaches. We like to be able to go right out of our resort and into the ocean.
We have stayed at the Villa La Estancia twice. That is how much we like it! We have rented a unit through the hotel, and we have also rented a unit that slept 8 people through VRBO.
I really like this resort because it has large pools and lots of chairs. They are also located on Medano beach, which is walkable to downtown Cabo and lots of eating! They also have a nice spa and fitness center. You have the option here to choose if you want to do it as an all-inclusive or not.
We have also stayed at the Hyatt Ziva in Los Cabos before as well. This is a fun resort if you are looking for an all-inclusive experience. This hotel is only 20 minutes from the airport, but it is not in downtown Cabo. Just up the Pacific Coast, between desert dunes and ocean rock formations, our magnificent beachfront resort offers spectacular views of the Sea of Cortez and is only minutes from San José del Cabo.
Enjoy Cabo!
